Chewy Flapjack

Ingredients

  • 300 grams of butter
  • 4 tablespoons of golden syrup
  • 340 grams of golden caster sugar
  • 200 millilitres of condensed milk
  • 500 grams of porridge oats

Method

  • Preheat oven to 160 degrees Celsius.
  • Line 33 cm by 23 cm roasting tin with baking parchment.
  • In a separate large pot, melt butter, syrup, and sugar over low heat. When melted, add condensed milk and remove from heat. Mix in porridge oats until covered by melted mixture.
  • Pour mixture into roasting tin and pat down with spatula.
  • Cook for 15-20 minutes; when flapjack starts to turn brown around the edges, take it out (it should still be relatively light in the centre).
  • Let cool for 15 minutes and cut in 16 pieces.
